What Is Erinstone Resin Bound Stone?

Resin bound stone paving is a mixture of aggregate stones and polyurethane resin used to pave footpaths, patios and driveways as a permeable paving solution. Our UV resin bound paving is a fully permeable paving solution that allows water to drain through the surface freely. Meeting the requirements of Sustainable urban drainage systems (SuDS) standards helps prevent standing water and essentially eliminates surface water runoff.

SuDs

Our System

The system is mixed on-site and cold applied, using a high-quality clear UV resistant resin binder to coat the washed and dried aggregate particles before laying (7% resin to aggregate). Our UV 2 part polyurethane resin is always sourced from the leading manufacturer to demonstrate that they have BS EN UKAS ISO9001 quality management standards. The aggregate mix will generally be a combination of natural aggregate sizes that must be kiln-dried to prevent moisture from coming in contact with polyurethanes and causing discolouration, resin blooming and poor performance.

Our Natural aggregates and recycled rubber blends are also bought from UKAS ISO9001 manufacturers. A 1-6mm matrix allows water to flow freely but allows sufficient contact between the bound stones to provide maximum strength with some flexibility. All our blends are tested to the standard requirements for strength BS 8204-6:2008 and A1:2010 Appendix B for slip resistance.

Commercial Flooring & Resin Bound Stone

Commercial paving projects need to be SuDS compliant, low maintenance and hard-wearing. Public and commercial spaces experience a higher level of foot traffic compared to residential areas, so you will also want to be sure this RBS durable surface is the best possible quality as you’ll want to keep employees and customers safe and make sure the space is accessible to everyone too.

Resin bound paving is a fantastic choice for commercial projects because of its flexibility for various purposes and spaces. Because of the nature of Resin bound paving, it can be used in multiple places, in different sized areas, different inclines etc.

What Makes Resin Bound Paving A Smarter Choice?

Some of the benefits of choosing resin bound paving make it a smart choice for commercial projects, especially those in public areas or on a large scale.
For example, Resin bound paving is permeable – which means that water drains through it, and the surface won’t puddle or flood. It is handy for parks and pathways, where puddles can cause obstacles or get in the way.
Our resin bound paving also comes with a guarantee, which means you can rest assured knowing you made a brilliant, long-lasting choice. In addition, Erinstone installations come with our 15-year guarantee against loose stone, cracking, oil damage, UV degradation, colour change and frost damage.

Benefits Of Resin Bound Stone

The reason people love resin bound paving is the look and feel that it has, especially when compared to traditional paving or tarmac. It blends in with super contemporary as well traditional buildings.

Resin bound paving has a smooth and fluid appearance, which makes the space look neat and looked after. It can also be personalised to suit the appearance of the commercial space – so you can choose the ideal colour for your space and branding. This works really well with schools for example, who have different colours to build into the design of their playgrounds, to make playtime more fun and interesting for the children.

Resin Bound vs Resin Bonded

A resin bound system delivers a permeable, durable, accessible, multi-layer surface. Because the finish is smooth there are no loose stones. The polyurethane resin holds the matrix of stones together providing a durable, smooth, chemical and weather resistant finish.

The resin bonded system delivers a non-permeable, single stone surface layer. Because the stone only adheres to the resin on one side, there is potential for the stone to become loose and scattered with wear.
